Face Stockholm 95

Wednesday, 21 September, 2011

Ok, I was hasty. I was so frustrated, but I found a solution – paint my nails quick. Say a prayer I don’t smudge them as I’m getting ready to take a swatch shot…et voilà! I no longer have hand wringing moments. Of course, I still can’t do a regular mani or wear color so my nails stay bare. Sad panda. This is the label shot of Face Stockholm 95.

Daisy Nail Lacquer – California Sunshine and China Glaze Crackles

Friday, 25 March, 2011

I’ve never heard of this brand before, but my awesome nail polish guy had this. At two dollars a bottle, I really couldn’t say no. I don’t think you would either!

I felt that posting a nail polish with this name was a bit ironic given that it’s pouring down rain. I felt that maybe, just maybe, we could do with a memory of our world famous California Sunshine. Well, I know I needed it. I hope the rest of you California girls (and non California girls!) enjoy this color for today.

It was such a great shade of red that popped I felt the urge to slap some China Glaze Crackles on them. Some could say I ruined a beautiful shade of polish, but to be honest I was just curious and well…sometimes good things come out of my curiosity. Sometimes not so much. I hope this is one of those not so much moments.

Chanel’s Black Satin vs Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Iconoclast

Tuesday, 22 March, 2011

I had to do a comparison. Can you blame me?

When I put on Iconoclast, I had flashbacks of Black Satin nightmares. You know what I’m talking about – people selling bottles of this on eBay for exorbitant prices. Little did you know that waiting a few years down the line would yield a version of it with better shimmer and a better formula. Sometimes it pays to wait.

Come on over and see what I’m blabbing about today…The sun came out and is still out, so I’m going to make this brief because I want to get some swatching in before the rain starts in again!

Comparison: Ginger & Liz’s Trance vs Color Club’s Revvvolution

Tuesday, 15 March, 2011

On Saturday I happened to catch a tweet from Jeanette over at The Swatchaholic and she was talking about a brand’s color that was holographic. I no longer feature that brand on my blog, but I happened to have 2 bottles of said color she was tweeting about.

I went home and compared the 2 and discovered that I did not have the HTF version of that color. After much picture taking from every angle in daylight, shade and flash I gave up. To cheer myself up, I decided to compare two holographic polishes from two lines: Ginger & Liz (whom I have so much love for) and Color Club.

China Glaze – Awakening Collection, Halloween / Fall 2010

Thursday, 21 October, 2010

I can’t believe I’ve been sitting on this…but I also know it’s been shown by a slew of other people. I don’t care. Here are my swatches.

Formula was awesome – quick drying and flawless. All of these were two coat applications.

China Glaze is seriously knocking it out of the ball park with their seasonal collections. I enjoyed Awakening and I’m seriously looooving their Christmas Collection – Tis the Season To Be Naughty and Nice. That is up for Friday. All 16 colors.  Anyway…

Here are the three colors from Awakening with a comparison of Mummy May I to Deborah Lippmann’s Bad Romance.

Warning: This is an image heavy post.

A black jelly nail polish packed with orange glitter. Very Halloween. Very fun…and I may be rocking it the next few days to support the Giants. Yea, I’m a Bay Area sports girl – born and raised so I feel a lot of loyalty to my home teams.

Really liking this green because I don’t have anything like it. I’ve heard it’s similar to SpaRitual’s Optical Illusion, but I haven’t had the chance to compare it because I don’t have OI and SpaRitual is a lot harder to get ahold of than most nail polishes. Pity SpaRitual doesn’t sell on their site because I’d rather purchase through there.

And finally…oldie but goody comparison of Mummy May I and Deborah Lippmann’s Bad Romance. BR is a collaboration she did with Lady Gaga. You can also read the original review here.

Bad Romance has different shapes of glitter and the base is a deeper, denser black. Had I not done a side by side comparison, I’d never have even thought that these were even different aside from the glitter size. Mummy May I is a cute name! I just looked back on my notes when I swatched these and BR and MMI are 3 coats.
