Revlon – Rock and Chanel – Paradoxal

Thursday, 19 August, 2010

In my head, I honestly thought Paradoxal and Rock were alike. No, they’re not.

Revlon’s color, Rock, is part of their fall collection…I couldn’t get the glitter companion for it because it was sold out. I still love this purple, though. I’m sure the glitter would’ve rocked it.

Here is Rock on me and then a comparison with Paradoxal on my thumb.

Formula: Wonderful and fast drying. Opaque on the second coat. Pity their brush was all jacked up.

OPI – Ski Teal We Drop

Wednesday, 18 August, 2010

Teal. It’s been my thing lately. Well, teal nail polish at least. When I saw this I had to get it.

Formula was fabulous! 2 coats, totally opaque. Fast drying. What more can a girl want? It’s a lovely creme, to boot. Holla! (ok, I shouldn’t do things like that…LOL I’m too old to be trying to talk like that.) It’s part of the Fall 2010 Switzerland collection.

China Glaze – Classic Camel

Tuesday, 17 August, 2010

This color was a real surprise…in a very good way.

I’m surprised it looked decent on me given it’s a fairly warm shade. China Glaze did a great job on this.

Formula was wonderful! Fast drying, opaque in two coats. Woo hoo. 🙂

This color is part of the Vintage Vixen collection from China Glaze for Fall 2010. Loved this color so much I’m giving this 3 pictures so you can fully appreciate it. It’s got a great gold shimmer through it that’s subtle but completely beefs up the color and keeps it from being totally dull. Wouldn’t you agree?

Sally Hansen – Fairy Teal

Monday, 16 August, 2010

I had to give this a shot…I had done Yellow Kitty and that formula was pewp. It took more than 3 coats to get it remotely opaque so I was worried this would be the same.

It’s not.

It’s better in coverage, but still bad in dry time. You can find it on the shelves at Walgreens, CVS, etc. I can’t really say much, but you can check out the color below.

Chanel – Paradoxal – update

Friday, 13 August, 2010

I decided to try Paradoxal for a week…it was very hard for me to not change the colors. I had originally worn it because when we went to Texas, I wanted a super awesome color. It was super awesome – I got many compliments on it.

Less than 24 hours after putting on the polish, the color chipped on the right hand – the pinky and the ring finger. It was marginal chipping and I honestly believed that it would just get worse. I was concerned that I would have mega ghetto nails after 48 hours. Such was not the case.

I took the picture exactly one week after application. I like to think it was the awesome base coat that I used (Hello, Nubar!) and the top coat (Posche, fast drying) that helped contribute to the longevity of the manicure.

Not bad after 7 days, right? It could’ve been much, much worse.

Zoya – Robyn (Summer 2010 – Flash Collection)

Friday, 13 August, 2010

I sometimes cringe at blue colors. Especially when they’re turquoise. I admit to cringing a bit when I put this on. However, this color grew on me. It sometimes worked with my skin and sometimes didn’t. I found more often than not it worked. When I’m in the mood, I love me some bright colors – just not hideously I-can-find-you-in-the-dark-while-wearing-sunglasses kind of bright, but this definitely is more in tune with what I consider an acceptable bright color for me.

Maybe I’m getting ballsy in my old age. 😉

Formula: Again, great application. I rarely have problems with Zoya and when/if I do it’s so minor I have a fierce internal debate with whether I should mention it or not because the flaw is usually by my hand (literally). As you can see on my ring finger, there is some nail peeking through…again, that’s me and my heavy handed application. 😀

Nubar – Barricade (Fortress Collection 2010)

Thursday, 12 August, 2010

Part of the Fortress Collection by Nubar, I was excited by the prospect of these grays. Sadly, I really wish gray could/would work on me…it doesn’t. I look washed out and a bit sad and I refuse to try and rock it when the colors don’t even go well with my complexion.

Formula: Fast drying and opaque with minimal fuss, this went on quickly and easily with little to no cuticle pull. I really wish a lot of nail polish manufacturers could be on the ball like that.
