So I kind of sort of cheated…the book/books in question is actually a series by Kresley Cole called Immortals After Dark. The premise of the series is based on the mythical Valkyries. If you don’t know who or what the Valkyries are, google it. I’m not going to explain it here. I’m too lazy and it’s really late. In the first book of the series, The Warlord Wants Forever, a Valkyrie named Myst is a known and feared vampire killer. She meets and falls for Nikolai Wroth, a vampire general. In this book/series, vampires’ hearts do not beat until they meet their Bride. So imagine, vampire killer Myst, meeting a vampire general whose heart does not beat until he meets her, his fated Bride. Myst, however, is a feisty girl. She feels something for him, but flees…for five years. Poor Nikolai Wroth, knowing who she is, and feeling some serious lust for this girl. Imagine his wrath when he finds her five years later! He holds her captive and in one scene where he’s holding her captive, she (as well as other Valkyries) are prone to being distracted by shiny things – to the point where it’s detrimental! In the scene, the shiny thing that distracts her is an ornate cross that has been in his family for centuries.
In my head, the cross comprises of some serious jewel tones set in gold. Sadly, I hate to confess that I cheated on this — I used glitter polish to mimic the colors I saw in my head: diamonds, rubies, sapphires and topaz.
I used Nubar’s Star Sparkle, Sky Sparkle, Night Sparkle and Fire Sparkle – in that order in the picture you see below. Sorry no nail art and sorry for the cheating. I’m hoping to get a much better shot with the animal print in the next challenge!
