I had to take a picture of the bottom of the polish bottle because sometimes I forget when I swatch more than 3 in one day. 🙂 Now you know what I’m showing ya!
First off, I love holographics. I love how they shimmer and shine. I love how they can be so tricky.
What I don’t like is the application itself. I’ve dealt with 2 brands of holographics: NFU Oh and China Glaze. Both have that odd application of where if you don’t get it right on the first try, you’re jacked. You just have to wait for it to dry and hope you don’t go too heavy handed or too light handed on the second or, in my case, third and fourth coats. That said, the best thing about this particular brand of holographic polish is that they must have anticipated the moodiness of the formula and they knew impatient girls like me would get ticked off if I had to wait a while in between coats. Have no fear, my dear! I could literally just keep on an infinite painting loop with the fast drying time.
065 is a bit of a sky blue holographic and I should’ve compared it to one of the China Glazes. Grr. I’ll just put up some old swatches of a similar blue holo from CG. Sorry no side by side comparisons.
One other thing is…I have to learn how to master the polish. I’m pretty awful when it comes to applying just regular polish, so imagine how badly I did here. You’ll see what I’m talking about in the pictures below.
Before we get to the pictures, this is one chiptastic formula. I had planned to wear this back in Easter 2010 and I did the manicure the night before. I let it dry between coats, blah blah blah…I woke up the next morning and I nearly pitched a fit – pinkie had chipped off in the middle of the night, middle finger on my left hand was starting to peel in the corner and the right hand thumb had a big ole tear right off the nail so it looked like nightmarish nail art of the worst kind. Maybe I needed to use an NFU basecoat and topcoat because I had used Nubar’s sticky basecoat and Posche’s Fast Drying Topcoat.
Enough with my nattering and time for some pictures.
You can see the beginning of the holographic goodness here – the soft faint gold shimmer on the nail and in the bottle…You can also see visible nail lines (VNL) on all of my nails. I ended up just trying to paint over the parts where the VNL was the worst…it was the funkiest patching job I’ve ever done. Also, even though this was 4 coats you can still see the ridges in my nail on my ring and pinky finger. This is a very very thin formula.

The NFU seems a bit more deeper in color yet isn’t as rich as CG. Please keep in mind that KHO was taken with an older camera. Ok, I’ll do a comparison now. I feel compelled to.
