Models Own Beetlejuice collection had myself and a few friends totally dying over it. I was able to do a bulk order with Krystal from Polish Galore and that alone was crazy! She was so dedicated in getting the order for us! She was up at some crazy crack of dawn time so she could log on to the Models Own site for when it was time to do orders. I still feel like I owe her a few margaritas and a bunch of nail polish for all that insanity. I’m eternally grateful! Thank you, Krystal, for getting me two orders of Models Own Beetlejuice polishes.
In case you didn’t enter my previous giveaway, July – my birth month!!! – is all about me. What I like to do is have giveaways. Why? Because it’s my birth month and that’s cause enough to celebrate! 😉
Now…what’s so special about these polishes? Well, first of all, I’m giving away a set. That’s special, right? What will you be getting? A set of these bad babies in the original wrapping along with a clear polish they gave. I didn’t feature the clear polish in the post…sorry!
Overall notes: The formula for Models Own Beetlejuice colors dried fast, but you would definitely benefit from doing three coats instead of the two that I did for these pictures. The only one that really did well with two coats was the Emerald Black color, but there was little to no color shift in that particular formula. I think I was expecting something along the lines of —> China Glaze’s Emerald Sparkle <— with a dark base and glowing neon green glitter, but with the glitter so fine it would just come up and play well with a dark background – as you will see, it didn’t happen.
These photos can be enlarged to see whatever shimmer you want to, but I’m trying to give you advanced warning about my really bad cuticles in the pics, ok?
On with the show…
There was pink…and there was brown…and there was golden and orange, too! It shows up really well in the shade shot. People had complained that this was the weakest color shift of them all, but to be honest it really all boils down to lighting. I was fortunate enough to have decent sunlight when I swatched these and they came up great!
The obligatory comparison of MAC’s Bad Fairy and Models Own Pinky Brown had to be shown. Bad fairy has a more pink/orange base while Pinky Brown has…a pink brown base. Had to state the obvious – sorry!
How pretty is it in the shade shot? You can really see the shift there. I also like how it looks in the sun as well. This was two coats, but could’ve benefitted from three.
I sort of see the purple, but not really the blue…do you?
This had been touted as a blackened polish with a teal/green shimmer. For me, the shimmer wasn’t very prevalent and I was disappointed. That said, this was wonderfully opaque in two thin coats…I had envisioned this gorgeous shimmer, but it didn’t happen. It’s still very pretty, though.
Gold Green reminds me of an apple…Peridot is this whole other level. Gold Green is a gorgeous and one that I love having in my collection.
