I wasn’t quite sure if I wanted to show you a mellow color or a stinging, burn your eyes, omg it’s bright color.
I present Gamma from Illamasqua’s Toxic Nature Spring/Summer 2011 collection.
This is a richly pigmented orange, but the slightly runny formula made it a bit hard to manage. This is 2 coats.
For some reason, my camera freaks out on certain colors – especially oranges and pinks. I shot this in RAW mode, but even then it couldn’t quite capture the sheer brightness and neon-esque quality of this shade.
Mr Carinae rolled his eyes because I wore this color for more than one day. He, like my cat, kept looking at my nails, wondering exactly when this color was going to be removed from my fingertips. I wore it for more than a few days because I loved how bright this color is. Plus, this was the type of orange that actually looked good on me, too. How can you remove a color that is not only noxiously bright, but also flatters your skin tone?! Wouldn’t you keep it on you for a while?
The collection itself is pretty magnificent and I purchased 4 of the nail polish colors which you will be seeing throughout the week. Enjoy!
This shot shows a bit of the brightness, but not quite completely…
Even in this shot, this doesn’t completely scream neon to me.
This camera phone shot also doesn’t show the full neon capabilities of the color, but it does show the contrast between the color and my skin.
