Anyway, Kim from Overall Beauty sent me this package and said I should get it in a few days…try the next day! All hail USPS that can haul butt like that. 😉
I literally squeed with glee when I opened the package: a full sized bottle of a color that was created for a band called Saints of Ruin (www.saintsofruin.com) commemorating the release of their new album due out soon called Glampyre. Incidentally, that is also the color name of the polish, too! Their lead singer, Ruby Ruin, helped create this color that I love wearing. I’m a dark nail polish kind of gal. I googled them and they were described as a Bay Area goth band…and the long dead goth girl in me did a happy dance. I’m a huge supporter of all things Bay Area and especially if they’re good. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to their music, please give them a shot – you won’t be disappointed.

Eye shadow!
First and foremost – this green is FLATTERING! It’s got gold undertones with a slight bronze-y feel and a cool enough undertone that works really well with my skin. Colors like this usually tend to look awful on me. On the Overall Beauty site, this is described as a black gold. I definitely love this color and my partner in nail polish crime kept staring at my nails over dinner – she LOVES this color, too. I just may have to venture out to a Saints of Ruin concert…wearing this color, of course!
I think this color is one of those that actually can *handle* sunlight. This is 2 coats and it is perfectly opaque. How gorgeous is this?
Formula: Superb! I finally figured what I was doing wrong with these polishes. I had been using a base coat – and I don’t need to. I didn’t know that. Shh…I did apply a high gloss top coat, but there is tip wear because I applied it on Friday the moment I got it. I am really rough on my nails and I did yard work and dishes with minimal tip wear! How awesome is that? Grab this shade if you can! You definitely won’t regret it.
Packed in with the polish was this gem I was truly not expecting – mineral eyeshadow. The color is called Baby Me and I loved wearing colors like this back in the 90s. I still feel the same. 🙂
I definitely prefer this color in the shade because it looks a gorgeous pinky/peachy, frosty, bronze-y kind of color…well, at least that’s how my skin made this color turn out!
I used to wear colors like this during the summer to emphasize my tan. 😉 Now that I avoid natural light, I still find myself gravitating towards colors like this. I didn’t take a face shot of this on me, but it looked very natural and I got many compliments from strangers on this when I wore it on Friday.
Application was silky and smooth – very easy to apply. I did apply it heavily because I loved the color when it was on me. There was really no need to do so. I noticed that with primer it lasted longer and without there was marginal fading by the end of the day.
I will be doing a giveaway of these 2 bad babies very soon, so stay tuned!
What do you think of them?
